Commission d'enquête parlementaire : Soupçonné de favoritisme, Abdou Karim Fofana vide son sac face aux députés
Summoned on Monday, October 12, 2026, before the National Assembly's parliamentary inquiry commission on the management of state-owned buildings, the former Director General of the State Asset Management Agency (AGPE), Abdou Karim Fofana, was questioned about the awarding of a lease to a certain Mouhamadou Lamine Fofana. Faced with inquiries about a possible family connection, the former minister categorically denied any relation to the beneficiary.
The awarding of a lease to a certain Mouhamadou Lamine Fofana sparked considerable debate during this hearing dedicated to the management of state-owned real estate. At the heart of the discussions was the possibility that the beneficiary was a close relative, or even a brother, of the former Director General of the AGPE (General Agency for State Property). When questioned on this matter, the latter responded directly. He denied any direct family relationship with the beneficiary, stating that he was in no way related to him. He also maintained that he had never personally met the individual in question.
“This clarification is intended to dispel suspicions of favoritism surrounding this appointment,” he emphasized. Addressing parliamentarians, Abdou Karim Fofana vehemently rejected the idea that he could have committed such a serious act by favoring a family member. He specified that this person was a magistrate whom “he does not know.”
The discussions also addressed the issues of contract monitoring, procedural transparency, and oversight of occupants of state-owned properties. Members of Parliament stressed the need for precise documentation regarding beneficiaries, rent amounts, lease durations, and renewal conditions.
Parliamentarians also called for better oversight of allocations to avoid any conflict of interest and guarantee equal treatment of applicants. They argued that traceability of decisions and publication of essential information on leases could help strengthen trust in the management of public assets.
