Constitution et État de droit : Malick Diop met en garde contre les « intérêts du moment »
The president of the Alliance for the Rebirth of Hope in Senegal (ARES), Dr. Malick Diop, has weighed in on the debate surrounding the functioning of institutions. In a public statement, he called for respect for the Constitution and the republican calendar, which he considers the foundations of any democracy.
"The strength of a democracy lies above all in the scrupulous respect for its Constitution and its republican calendar," says the leader of ARES.
According to him, institutions should not be influenced by "the circumstances or interests of the moment", but rather guided by principles guaranteeing "the stability, confidence and continuity of the State".
The leader of ARES also believes that Senegal has always distinguished itself by its commitment to the rule of law. In his view, this legacy must be preserved responsibly and solely in the interest of the nation.
"The Republic is above all else," he concluded, inviting political and institutional actors to prioritize respect for republican institutions and rules.
