Contrôle de l’action gouvernementale : Quand l'exception devient la règle au Sénégal (Khadim Bamba Fall)
For the past few days, the attention of the Senegalese population has been focused on the proceedings of parliamentary inquiry commissions. This may seem new to some, but for Khadim Bamba Fall, a Pastef party official, it is perfectly normal practice. In a post published on his Facebook page, the Pastef member reiterated that in all serious countries, a parliamentary or independent public inquiry commission is essential to shed light on the management of public funds.
An overview of commissions of inquiry around the world
To support his argument, Khadim Bamba Fall provides a panoramic overview of some famous commissions around the world.
In Brazil, the CPIs (Comissões Parlamentares de Inquérito) notably examined, in the Federal Senate in 2021, the management of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In France, around ten parliamentary inquiries were conducted at the National Assembly during the 2025-2026 session alone. (Inquiry into the organization of elections in France, chaired by Thomas Cazenave, concluded in May 2025; Inquiry into the links between political movements and Islamist/terrorist networks, chaired by Xavier Breton, concluded in December 2025…)
Taking the case of Quebec, the Pastef official referred to the famous "Charbonneau Commission", officially created on October 19, 2011. A Commission of Inquiry into the awarding and management of public contracts in the construction industry.
He finally reminded the United States of the power of congressional committees, with the historical examples of the Senate Watergate Commission (1973-1974) and the House Commission on the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack.
"Pastef has restored the Assembly to its original stature."
For Khadim Bamba Fall, the rise of Pastef represents a genuine transformation. "The National Assembly is now fully playing its role. Even the opposition is aware of this," he declared.
He finally indicated that the Pastef Les Patriotes party has restored the National Assembly to its original stature, which rests on the three pillars of: passing laws, overseeing government action, and evaluating public policies. "President Ousmane Sonko is the embodiment of Jub Jubbël Jubbanti. Congratulations to the honorable members of the 15th legislature," he concluded.
