Démissions dans les rangs de Pastef : le message ferme de Ousmane Sonko
Resignations within Pastef have been multiplying in recent days. This Saturday, the party's president, on a tour in Khombole, delivered a firm message on the matter.
“When someone who had chosen to join Pastef decides to leave, let’s wish them well. There’s no point in talking about it and focusing on it as if this departure were painful. So, ‘beugatouma kou commenter déparou Ken’ (I don’t want departures to be commented on anymore),” Ousmane Sonko declared in Khombole, in front of his supporters.
The Pastef leader, who presided over the ceremony for selling his party's membership cards in the locality, explained to his supporters that we live in a democracy. Therefore, everyone has freedom of opinion and association.
He therefore explained to his supporters that many are leaving other parties to join Pastef. "Those who join Pastef are far more numerous than those who have left. So we must respect everyone's right to join wherever they want. And this does not diminish the party in any way," he said.
He reiterated to his activists that they should no longer publicize departures: "Sometimes, Pastef activists show immaturity. Because, sometimes, unknown people can leave Pastef. But, it is by talking about it that they become known. This must stop," he asserted.
