Fonds de dotation à Ndioum : le maire Cheikh Omar Anne déplore une enveloppe de 35,8 millions FCFA
The municipal council of Ndioum, in the department of Podor, approved the distribution of the endowment funds allocated to the municipality for the 2026 fiscal year. An envelope of 35,836,565 CFA francs deemed insufficient by the mayor, Cheikh Omar Anne, in view of the numerous expenses incumbent upon the community.
Meeting in session, the municipal councilors approved the allocation of the state grant funds. For the mayor of Ndioum, this sum remains far below the municipality's needs, which include expenses related to education, health, infrastructure maintenance, and waste management.
Dr. Cheikh Omar Anne also lamented the delay in the release of these resources. According to him, funds that should have been available earlier in the year only arrived at the end of August, forcing local authorities to commit to expenditures within a very short timeframe before the end of the fiscal year.
"The Ndioum health post deserves better than 3.5 million CFA francs," the mayor lamented, adding that the resources transferred by the State do not sufficiently correspond to the expenses borne by local authorities.
He therefore argues for a significant increase in the financial resources of municipalities. He believes that at least 15% of the state budget should be decentralized to enable local authorities to better address the concerns of their populations.
For Sheikh Omar Anne, this issue deserves special attention from the State, as municipalities are called upon to play a central role in local development.
