Fonds politiques: Guy Marius Sagna dévoile les montants perçus par Sonko et Diomaye, Aldiouma Sow s’alarme
Pastef MP Guy Marius Sagna asserted that President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and National Assembly President Ousmane Sonko each legally possess political funds not subject to institutional oversight. This statement drew a sharp rebuke from Aldiouma Sow, coordinator of the Diomaye President campaign.
According to the parliamentarian, the Head of State thus has over 8 billion CFA francs at his disposal "without any oversight," distributed among political funds, a slush fund, special funds, and a sovereign wealth fund. Ousmane Sonko, as a former Prime Minister, reportedly receives 1.7 billion CFA francs, also "without any oversight."
Guy Marius Sagna denounces what he presents as a form of "perjury" on the part of President Diomaye Faye regarding this matter. Faye, an opponent of Ousmane Sonko, continues, according to Sagna, to defend the regulation of "all" political funds, as he did during his time in opposition. "This is the sorcery of certain politicians. Sorcerers, are you alright?" he quipped on his social media.
These revelations did not fall on deaf ears. Aldiouma Sow, coordinator of the Diomaye Président movement and member of the Kiiraay – Les Patriotes Républicains party, has spoken out to settle his score with Ousmane Sonko regarding the management of special funds. The former Pastef member revealed that Guy Marius Sagna has just confirmed why Ousmane Sonko, then Prime Minister, had ordered him to halt his proposed law aimed at regulating special funds because he had personally benefited from them, to the tune of 1,770,000,000 CFA francs per quarter: "This law would have been disastrous from an ethical and moral standpoint in the eyes of the martyrs' families," he declared.
Then, he also attacked Guy Marius Sagna, whom he describes as an aspiring, insecure petit-bourgeois whose civic engagement is merely "opportunistic".
This clash comes as the Bureau of the National Assembly declared admissible, on July 17 and 23, a bill put forward by Guy Marius Sagna, Mame Diarra Bèye and Alphonse Mané Sambou, aimed at regulating special credits and other secret state funds.
