Fortes pluies : l’AFP interpelle l’État et réclame une réponse à la hauteur de la situation
The Alliance of Progressive Forces (AFP) reacts to the consequences of the heavy rains recorded in recent days across Senegal.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the party deplores several losses of life as well as significant material damage and calls on the authorities to strengthen their intervention measures for the affected populations.
Faced with this painful reality, the Alliance of Progressive Forces (AFP) paid tribute to the memory of all those who have perished. The party also expressed its deepest condolences to the two victims who died in Dakar, a woman and her child from Ngoundiane, as well as to the victims recorded in Kaolack and Matam, among other places.
AFP offers its deepest condolences to the bereaved families and expresses its compassion and solidarity with the victims
To the many injured and affected, the Alliance also expresses its deep compassion and solidarity, while reaffirming its closeness to all Senegalese men and women facing this difficult situation.
The urgent need for a response commensurate with the situation
Beyond expressing compassion, the party is calling on government authorities and the President of the Republic "at the highest level of the State." AFP demands that "all necessary measures be taken to provide concrete solutions as quickly as possible to the difficulties faced by the severely affected populations."
The party stated that "the country cannot remain indifferent to the scale of the suffering endured by our citizens." "Strengthened mobilization of public authorities is necessary both for assisting victims and for reinforcing prevention and emergency response measures."
The Alliance of Progressive Forces deplores that the urgency of such a painful situation could be relegated to the background, in view of the concerns expressed by the populations and the extent of the damage recorded.
For the progressive party, in this difficult moment, national solidarity, state responsibility, and effective public action must prevail. "Senegal expects more and better," the statement concludes.
