Guy Marius Sagna :« Diomaye Faye n’est pas digne de confiance »
The debate over political funds continues to be controversial in the National Assembly. Guy Marius Sagna, a member of parliament from the Pastef-Les Patriotes party, strongly criticized the position of the government and President Bassirou Diomaye Faye, calling for greater transparency and oversight.
During Pastef's press conference, Guy Marius Sagna stated that this is the first time the issue of political funds has been the subject of a real debate within the National Assembly. "This is the first time in the National Assembly that these political funds are being discussed," he declared, recalling that in the past, these funds were considered opaque and it was difficult to talk about them publicly.
According to the MP, the government's referral to the Constitutional Council would suspend parliamentary discussions on this issue. He claims that the government wrote to the National Assembly committee informing them that this referral was suspensive and that MPs should not continue debating these funds.
The Pastef MP believes, however, that Senegalese people have the right to know the mechanisms for managing these funds. "We, the MPs, believe that Senegalese people must know the truth," he argued, calling for a reform to better regulate special loans and political funds.
Guy Marius Sagna also denounced what he considers to be an attempt by certain media outlets to create an artificial crisis among Pastef members. "We will not fall into the trap set by President Diomaye and some members of the press who are creating an artificial crisis that does not exist," he declared.
The parliamentarian went further in his criticism of the head of state. He believes that any attempt to prevent debates on special appropriations or political funds would be problematic. "If the president wants to do everything to prevent sessions in order to avoid discussion on special appropriations, he cannot be trusted," he stated.
Guy Marius Sagna also mentioned the 2029 presidential election, assuring that Pastef intends to pursue certain reforms if it returns to power with Ousmane Sonko.
For the MP, the central issue remains that of oversight and transparency in the management of these funds. "Why don't they want transparency and oversight of these funds?" he asked. He further stated that the opposition opposed this approach in committee while, according to him, agreeing with the government's position.

Diomaye djeredjeff!!!
