Hausse des prix : le Gouvernement lance les concertations sur "la vie chère"
The Government launched consultations on the "high cost of living" this Thursday. Officials from the Ministries of Trade, Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries met with various stakeholders (producers, sellers, consumers, and others) to discuss the issues.
"The objective is to promote inclusive exchanges with all stakeholders: producers, fishermen, traders, distributors, all together to diagnose this price increase on each product and propose solutions for immediate application as well as structural solutions," explained Seydina Aboubacar Sadikh Ndiaye, Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
He reports that at the end of their work, which began this Thursday, a national response plan will be developed and submitted to the Minister of Industry and Trade for approval. A strategy "that will provide the solutions expected by the Senegalese people," he says.
Regarding the current price situation, Seydina Aboubacar Sadikh Ndiaye explains that, for the past few months, their department has observed a price increase for certain products on the market. This is attributed to seasonal factors.
"This is not a general increase like the one in 2017. This is a price increase on seasonal products, particularly meat, vegetables and fish," says the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
Thus, four working committees were set up. The first focuses on meat, the second on vegetables, the third on fish, and the fourth on rent.
