"He did everything he could to sabotage the meeting": TAS accuses the sub-prefect of Sagata

MP and leader of the Republic of Values, Thierno Alassane Sall, raises his voice against the management of difficulties related to the rainy season and denounces what he considers an "irresponsible" attitude of the authorities.

Speaking about the difficulties encountered during a meeting this Monday in Sagata (Kébémer department), he accused the local sub-prefect of attempting to obstruct the initiative. According to him, the administrative authority contacted local organizers and individuals likely to support the meeting in order to dissuade them from participating.

"It is symptomatic of the bad conscience of the State that the sub-prefect of Sagata did everything he could to sabotage this meeting," he says.

The parliamentarian thus criticizes an administration which he considers more concerned with controlling the population than with resolving the problems they face, including insecurity, cattle theft and disasters related to bad weather.

"All difficulties must be tackled head-on."

Thierno Alassane Sall insists he does not want to "fixate on any of the problems", believing that all the difficulties faced by the population must be addressed.

He is particularly critical of the management of the rainy season and the decisions made by the authorities. He notably denounces the convening of three extraordinary sessions of the National Assembly in the middle of the rainy season, arguing that the State lacks an effective mechanism for monitoring sites likely to be flooded.

The leader of the Republic of Values also criticizes the President of the Republic, whom he accuses of being more interested in the number of mayors who have joined his camp than in the concrete results of his actions.

Rural areas, largely forgotten

According to Thierno Alassane Sall, the difficulties are even more acute in rural areas and hamlets scattered across the country, which have fewer resources to make their concerns heard by public authorities.

“You can drown in anonymity there,” he laments, believing that the tragedies experienced in these areas receive less media attention than those in major cities, even though they occur every year. He asserts that currently, many localities in the country are only accessible by makeshift canoes.

The MP believes these situations must continue to be examined even after the immediate crisis has passed and the victims have been buried. He specifically mentions the 37 billion FCFA allocated to the most vulnerable populations, whose alleged disappearance, in his view, exemplifies the corruption that plagues our society.

For him, remaining silent in the face of these situations would amount to condoning those responsible for what he calls a treachery. He therefore announces his intention to take the protest to the national level. "We must respond with a large national march after the Youth Olympic Games," affirms the leader of the Republic of Values.
