Incident à Mbacké : le Front de l'opposition lancé dans la tension, Modou Bara Dolly interrompu en plein discours
The opposition front in the Mbacké department was launched this Saturday, October 3, 2026, in the town of the same name. The ceremony took place in the hall of the Mbacké municipal complex, named after Professor Assane Ndiaye, in the presence of several leaders of political parties and movements, including former members of parliament and former special advisors to the President of the Republic. A banner adorned with portraits of opposition leaders displayed the Front's motto, "Unite, Resist, Build, Change," as well as its rallying cry: "All viewpoints, one goal: change."
A heated initial exchange between two officials
Before the main incident of the evening, Bintou Diop, the women's representative of the New Responsibility party of former Prime Minister Amadou Ba, and Daba Touré, also known as Daba Macky, a leader of the APR party, engaged in a heated exchange. The intervention of other members of the Front was necessary to restore calm to the room.
Modou Mbacké Bara Dolly's speech was interrupted
The meeting was then marred by a major incident. Serigne Modou Mbacké Bara Dolly, an APR official, arrived late and was invited by the master of ceremonies to speak. He was met with a categorical refusal from his party colleague, Bassirou Diagne, a former presidential advisor under the BBY regime. Oumar Ndiaye Angloma, a former presidential advisor under Macky Sall, tried to prevent Bassirou Diagne from grabbing the microphone, which led to a scuffle.
Despite everything, Serigne Modou Mbacké Bara Dolly wanted to continue his speech, but his fellow Republican managed to interrupt him. Total chaos ensued in the room. Bassirou Diagne finally took the central microphone to deliver the APR's message, that of former President Macky Sall. Once his remarks were finished, Serigne Modou Mbacké Bara Dolly took the microphone again to continue his own speech.
After the incident, the two APR officials in Touba reconciled before posing for a family photo, Seneweb observed.
Reading the memorandum
After this latest incident, the meeting proceeded normally. The departmental coordinator of the Front, Serigne Fallou Diop, read the Front's memorandum, dated October 3, 2026.
The memorandum lists the formations that make up the Front: the APR, the AFP of Mbaye Dione, the ARC of Anta Babacar Ngom, Bokk Gis Gis of Pape Diop, Gueum Sa Bopp of Bougane Guèye Dany, Andu Nawle of Maguette Sène, the PLD of Oumar Sarr Dagana, Nouvelle Responsabilité of Amadou Ba, Sénégal Bignou Bokk of Barthélémy Diaz, LDR Yessal of Modou Diagne Fada, Les Serviteurs of Pape Djibril Fall, Taxawu Sénégal of Khalifa Sall and the Movement of President Lahat Diop.
The authors assert that the Front is a product of recent history and that its members are eager to embark on their mission: strengthening the opposition alliance in the department with a view to victory in the upcoming local and national elections. Referring to political defections, they commend members who have remained dignified, whose selflessness and love of country are beyond question, as they are motivated, according to the text, neither by selfish individual interests nor by partisan sentiments.
The memorandum is highly critical of the current government. It argues that the duo elected by the Senegalese people to lead the country has failed in its first two years of governance, given the economic, political, moral, and social situation as of October 3, 2026. It denounces the inconsistency, incompetence, missteps, misdirection, and fumbling around a project described as an "empty slogan." The signatories consider the results of this administration dismal and express no hope that the country will recover by 2029.
Faced with this situation, the Front declares itself committed to a tireless struggle for the consolidation of democracy, the revitalization of the economy, the emergence of quality education, and the improvement of the healthcare system. It also cites the promotion of youth, the rehabilitation of culture, elite and grassroots sports, the advancement of women, and respect for human rights—in short, the dignity of Senegal and its people.
The text asserts that a new chapter in the history of the department, the birthplace of Cheikh Ahmadou Bamba, is being written. It calls for perseverance, with genuine grassroots activism and a rational engagement in the political arena, convinced that great victories are built on solidarity.
