During a site visit in the municipality of Kaolack, the Minister of Infrastructure, Déthié Fall, reviewed the progress of the Urban Modernization Program (Promovilles). A total of 4,238 kilometers of roads have been completed in several neighborhoods of the city, at a total cost of nearly 3 billion CFA francs.

The Minister of Infrastructure, Déthié Fall, conducted an inspection tour of the construction sites for the Urban Modernization Program (Promovilles) in the municipality of Kaolack. Accompanied by the local prefect, the minister visited the neighborhoods of Medina Baye, Tally Thioffack, City Center, and Bongré to assess the progress of the work on the ground.

“We came to appreciate the progress of Promovilles’ achievements. Everyone knows the importance of this program and the Head of State’s vision to strengthen and extend it to the heart of neighborhoods, particularly on unclassified networks, complementing Ageroute’s interventions on the classified network,” the minister said.

Enhanced infrastructure for neighborhoods

On the ground, the ministerial delegation noted the completion of 4.238 kilometers (or 4,238 meters) of roads distributed across different districts of the municipality, at a total cost of nearly 3 billion FCFA, in addition to the 7 kilometers previously undertaken as part of the rehabilitations.

Déthié Fall reiterated that this urban development initiative underway in Kaolack is part of a national rollout. Similar visits are planned soon in Thiès and Saint-Louis, in accordance with the directives outlined by the Prime Minister.

In parallel, the government is deploying the PA2VS program, which covers 99 municipalities and provides for the development of more than 302 kilometers of roads as well as the construction of more than 100 kilometers of stormwater drainage networks, in order to directly improve the living conditions of the population.
