Khelcom Birame: Tribute to the 12 PASTEF coordinators during the grand final of the Solidarity Tournament

The town of Khelcom Birame was abuzz on Saturday, October 10, 2026, with the grand final of the Solidarity Tournament, held at the municipal stadium. Initiated by Barra Faye, PASTEF coordinator in Khelcom Birame and departmental vice-coordinator of Guinguinéo, in conjunction with Saliou Diouf, member of MONCAP and political leader of the party in Guinguinéo, this sporting event served as a platform for a heartfelt tribute to the twelve PASTEF coordinators of the department, in a spirit of fraternity and community cohesion.

After several weeks of competition focused on fair play and camaraderie, the tournament concluded with a match between ASC Mbañ Say of Nguecokh and ASC Magg Daan of Ndoffane Tanewar. Beyond the stakes on the field, the encounter transformed into a major public event and a moment of political recognition for the local leaders of the patriotic party.

Political recognition and territorial roots

Through this initiative, the organizers wanted to acknowledge the constant commitment of the twelve municipal coordinators to the political animation and development dynamics of the Guinguinéo department.

Among those honored was Dr. Ismaïla Diallo, a member of the National Assembly, the institution's third vice-president, and the PASTEF departmental coordinator in Guinguinéo. The eleven other officials honored were: Omar Ndéné Ndour (Mbadakhoune), Abdou Faye (Ngathie Naoudé), Pascal Mbaye Diop (Ourour), Ndiaga Mbengue (Fass), Cheikh Mbodji (Gagnick), Khassim Ngom (Nguélou), Leyti Sarr (Ndiago), Serigne Mbaye (Mboss), Pape Matar Diop (Dara Mboss), Mor Diouf (Panal Wolof), and Barra Faye (Khelcom Birame).

A plea for municipal infrastructure and ambitions

Taking advantage of this forum bringing together political leaders, youth movements, and local residents, Barra Faye outlined the commune's main grievances. The political leader particularly emphasized the urgent need for electrification of the area's localities, improved access through the construction and rehabilitation of roads, and the implementation of concrete measures to combat youth unemployment.

Openly declaring his ambitions for local government, Mr. Faye stated that, if elected mayor, he would implement the PASTEF program to transform the town and make it "the city of the future." This speech gave the event a civic and social significance, highlighting residents' expectations for essential public services.

Executive support and large-scale sponsorship

Held under the patronage of Fadilou Keïta, deputy secretary general of PASTEF and political leader in Kaolack, the final saw the participation of several prominent figures. Alongside the patron and Dr. Ismaïla Diallo, those present included Seydina Alioune Kébé, member of MONCAP, Dieynaba Sarr, special advisor to the president of the National Assembly Ousmane Sonko, and Ndiogou Ndiaye, chairman of the board of directors of ANACIM.

By using football as a tool for bringing people together, the organizers have succeeded in reconciling sporting competition, recognition of activist commitment and formulation of development priorities for the Khelcom Birame region.
