« Kiiraay d’abord, la République après 2029 » : Thierno Alassane Sall charge le régime de Diomaye Faye
MP Thierno Alassane Sall has raised his voice against the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye. In a scathing attack, the former minister denounces what he considers to be the President's excessive involvement in the activities of Kiiraay, a private organization, to the detriment of the Republic's priorities.
Thierno Alassane Sall questions how much time the president devotes to this political party. "How much time per day does the president, housed, paid and protected by the Republic, spend working for Kiiraay, a private organization?" he asks.
The MP also questions the cost to public finances of presidential audiences, which he describes as "poaching sessions." He particularly doubts the altruistic nature of some of the defections to the presidential camp.
According to him, some new supporters of "diomayism" might be motivated by interests related to positions and benefits. "Who is naive enough to believe that all these converts to 'diomayism' are so out of pure patriotism, without any bargaining for lucrative positions or exchanges of material advantages?" he asks.
Thierno Alassane Sall thus draws a parallel with political defection, believing that the phenomenon has not disappeared with the arrival of the new power. "There was defection before the current president. Now, it's a rush for the Senegalese pie," he asserts.
The Yaakaar-Teranga case at the heart of the criticism
The MP also criticizes the handling of the Yaakaar-Teranga gas project, which he describes as strategic for Senegal. He accuses President Diomaye Faye of trying to shift the blame for the project onto his former Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko.
"The one who theorized 'self-sacrifice for the homeland' is neglecting the nation to a degree that could be fatal for us. Just look at how the president is trying to shift the blame onto his sole Prime Minister, Ousmane Sonko, in the Yaakaar-Teranga scandal," TAS continues.
He relies in particular on revelations attributed to Al Aminou Lo to question the level of presidential oversight of the matter. He asserts that the head of state did not sufficiently pay attention to the projected start date of production, the difficulties with the operator Kosmos Energy, or the existence of a possible alternative plan in the event of its departure.
"As a reminder, the exploitation of this deposit is crucial for Gas to Power and for a significant decrease in the price of electricity, essential factors for the success of the so-called Agenda 2050," the MP recalls.
In short, TAS claims that the head of state has no idea of the status of such a strategic project, to the point that the controversial announcement by his PM went completely under his nose.
“Even in the Council of Ministers (now held twice a month), this crucial issue was never raised. This proves that Diomaye Faye knows the candidate likely to win in the smallest municipality in Senegal better than he knows about the major issues facing the Republic,” he concluded.
