La coalition Diomaye Président enclenche sa mue en un grand parti politique
Meeting in extraordinary session this Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the King Fahd Palace in Dakar, the Council of Leaders of the Diomaye President coalition decided to officially initiate the transformation of the coalition into a unifying political party. A constituent general assembly is scheduled for July 25 to ratify this change.
The leaders of the coalition, joined by new figures from the presidential majority, have officially launched the process of transforming their group into a large unifying political party.
"This meeting, which brought together all the leaders of the Diomaye President coalition and new political leaders of the presidential majority, reflects a common desire to provide Senegal with a strong, structured, democratic and sustainable political organization capable of supporting, in unity and responsibility, the implementation of the systemic transformation project led by His Excellency the President of the Republic Bassirou Diomaye Faye," indicates a statement received by Seneweb.
During their work, the members of the Council of Leaders examined three founding documents: a strategic note defining the political vision and ideological orientations of the future party; a draft statute setting out its organization and governance; and a draft internal regulation governing the operation of its various bodies.
At the end of the discussions, the participants unanimously adopted the main guidelines of these texts, while incorporating several amendments intended to strengthen their coherence and effectiveness.
For the coalition leaders, this transformation goes beyond mere organizational matters. According to them, it marks "the opening of a new stage in national political life," with the upcoming creation of a mass party intended to unite the forces supporting the actions of the head of state.
The future party's mission will include consolidating political support for the President of the Republic, strengthening the cohesion of the presidential majority, ensuring a presence throughout the national territory, training activists, and preparing for the next elections.
It also aims to become a permanent framework for strategic thinking and mobilization around national priorities.
The revised texts will be submitted for approval to the Constituent General Assembly convened on July 25, 2026, the date on which the new political formation will be officially created and its first governing bodies installed.
In the wake of this, political tours will be organized across the country to set up local structures, in preparation for the first National Congress announced for the end of the rainy season.
The Council of Leaders has finally launched an appeal to activists, sympathizers and all citizens sharing the ideals of justice, sovereignty, prosperity and good governance to join this new political dynamic.
"Together, let us continue building a more just, more sovereign and more prosperous Senegal, in unity, solidarity and commitment to the exclusive service of the Senegalese people," the council urges.
