The Alliance for the Republic (APR) welcomed the decision by the Senegalese authorities to officially nominate former President Macky Sall for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN).

"With this decision, the State of Senegal chooses to place the nation's best interests above all other considerations. It thus reaffirms the permanence of the State, the continuity of its diplomatic action and Senegal's vocation to contribute, at the highest level, to global governance," reads a statement from the party's National Executive Secretariat.

The APR believes that this decision "honors Senegalese democracy," reinforces the country's republican tradition, and contributes to its international standing. The party now considers Macky Sall's candidacy to transcend partisan politics and become "the expression of a national ambition" championed by the Senegalese state.

The party also emphasizes that this choice sends "a strong message" to the international community, demonstrating Senegal's ability to rally around strategic issues when it comes to defending the country's interests.

Finally, the Alliance for the Republic reaffirms its willingness to support this candidacy, which it presents as a "historic opportunity" for Senegal, for Africa and for the promotion of a "fairer, more inclusive and more effective" multilateralism.

"There are times when nations write the most beautiful pages of their history not in confrontation, but in coming together around what is essential. The decision taken by the highest authorities of our country is part of this republican tradition which makes Senegal great and reinforces its prestige on the international stage," the statement emphasizes.

Non monsieur c'est le président de la république seul qui soutient Macky Sall ce n'est pas le Sénégal. L'union africaine n'a pas de candidat. La prochaine SG de l'ONU sera asiatique il ne faut pas qu'on trompe les sénégalais.
