« Le pays est actuellement au 5e sous-sol » : Le coup de gueule du Dr El H. Mansour Diop
While the residents of Foundiougne were receiving free medical consultations, the Director General of Aristide Le Dantec Hospital, Dr. El Hadji Mansour Diouf, seized the opportunity to speak frankly to the political class. Faced with the country's economic and social difficulties, he called on political leaders to end their infighting and put the concerns of the Senegalese people at the heart of public policy. "The priorities lie elsewhere, everyone knows that," declared Dr. El Hadji Mansour Diouf.
The director of Le Dantec Hospital didn't mince words. "We found the country in a terrible state. Because of political squabbles, power struggles, and vehement, sometimes insulting, rhetoric that has poisoned the Senegalese political climate, priorities have been neglected in favor of self-serving interests," he denounced. He continued, "Prime Minister Al Aminou Lo has just outlined the situation for us, his general policy statement, showing us that the country is currently in a very dire situation."
For Dr. El H. Diop, the time for political confrontations is over; now is the time for action. He calls for a collective awakening: "We invite all the leaders of this country, all the authorities of this country, of every persuasion, without any consideration whatsoever, to come together around the essentials, to uphold the pillars of this Republic, to focus on the priorities of this country in order to restore our nation to its rightful place," he pleads, emphasizing that he has relayed the directives of the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
The meeting was attended by the mayors of Djilor and Passy, as well as his comrades from the "Kiiray" party in the department of Foundiougne.
72 hours of free care
This speech was given on the sidelines of the 11th medical campaign organized in his hometown of Foundiougne. In collaboration with PROSPHARM 2026, the graduating class of the "Alchemys" Pharmacy School of 2026, Dr. El Mansour Diop offered three days of free medical care to the local population, including the distribution of medications and a free circumcision day for children from Foundiougne and surrounding communities. Several medical specialties were represented, including general medicine, geriatrics, urology, gynecology, dermatology, cardiology, and dentistry.
“This day allowed us to observe populations in need who sometimes require access to healthcare and health services, and who face enormous difficulties,” explains Dr. Mansour Diouf. The initiative was carried out with the graduating class of pharmacy students and the support of several partners, including the National Supply Pharmacy (SEN-PNA), the National Malaria Control Program, and the Ministry of Health and Social Action.
El Mansour Diop expressed his satisfaction with the campaign's results. "The consultations went very well. We observed that people in need received care and were very satisfied with the service they received," he emphasized. For him, this operation is a concrete example of what serving the population should look like: "The priority must remain providing assistance to the population. We have demonstrated this assistance today by facilitating access to healthcare," concluded Dr. Diop.
