« Les 1,770 milliard du PM pouvaient indemniser les victimes » : Yankhoba Diémé recadre Sonko sur l'indemnisation des anciens détenus
Minister Yankhoba Diémé believes that the 1.77 billion CFA francs in political funds allocated to the Prime Minister could have been used directly to compensate former detainees. In an interview with Seneweb , he stated that he discovered the exact amount of this sum during debates in the National Assembly, arguing that these resources would have been more than sufficient to meet the victims' expectations.
“ With just these 1.77 billion FCFA, we could compensate the members of parliament at a rate of approximately 5 million FCFA each over two years. If we apply the same reasoning to former prisoners, this would have made it possible to compensate several hundred, or even more than a thousand beneficiaries depending on the amount chosen ,” he explained.
Yankhoba Diémé argues that the necessary financial resources were indeed available, and that the allocation of compensation was more a matter of budgetary choice than a genuine lack of funds. According to him, highlighting the donation of a monthly salary of 4 million CFA francs was a communication strategy far removed from providing effective institutional support to the victims.
