LFR 2026 : Les élus de KIIRAAY à Vélingara interpellent les députés Ibou Guèye et Safiatou Sow
Political and budgetary tensions are escalating in the regions following the rejection of the 2026 amending finance law (LFR). In a statement of indignation published on October 26, 2026, the territorial representatives of the KIIRAAY party in the department of Vélingara took to the airwaves to formally call upon MPs Ibou Guèye and Safiatou Sow to address the worrying situation currently prevailing in the National Assembly.
According to the signatories of the text, refusing to vote on the 2026 Finance Law is tantamount to taking a major risk for the future of the locality. Such a stance risks depriving the people of the Vélingara department of essential resources intended to directly improve the living conditions of women, young people, workers, the elderly, and people living with disabilities. The local elected officials believe that such a blockage, implemented without first clarifying the real consequences for the projects and services expected by citizens, raises a fundamental question of responsibility towards the constituents of the department.
A demand for a public explanation and a call to action
Faced with what they consider a threat to local development, the elected representatives of KIIRAAY in the Vélingara department have formulated a series of clear demands on their parliamentarians. They are expressly requesting public explanations regarding the reasons for the rejection of the 2026 Finance Law and are demanding thorough clarifications on the impact of this decision on construction projects and daily life in Vélingara.
Calling on the relevant members of parliament to report without delay on their position and to prioritize the defense of citizens' interests over any other consideration, the departmental coordination invites all the active forces in the sector to remain strongly mobilized to preserve the structuring projects of the area.
“Defending the interests of the people of Vélingara must remain a priority. Public resources must be used to concretely improve the living conditions of all,” concluded Ibrahima Barry, the departmental supervisor of KIIRAAY, and Mamadou Oury Baïlo Diallo, the president of the UAEL.
