Macky Sall quitte Dakar : voici ses prochaines étapes
Former Senegalese President Macky Sall left Dakar after meeting with his successor, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, to discuss his candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations. Les Échos reports that he went directly to Banjul, the Gambian capital, where he was to spend the night, before heading to his residence in Marrakech, Morocco, to spend the weekend.
He will then fly to Moscow, where a meeting is scheduled with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
For this trip, the same source reports, the former head of state is traveling with a large entourage. The daily newspaper indicates that Mankeur Ndiaye, former Minister of Foreign Affairs, described as a "shadow advisor" and a "master strategist," boarded the private jet bound for the Gambian capital. Also present was Oumar Demba Bâ (ODB), the "indefatigable" diplomatic advisor who remains at the heart of the former president's inner circle.
Moreover, this visit to Dakar was marked by the presence of the former president of Guinea-Bissau, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, who accompanied Macky Sall during his face-to-face meeting with Bassirou Diomaye Faye.
In a message posted on the social network X, Umaro Sissoco Embaló praised a meeting marked by "dialogue and African fraternity." He considered it part of a "hopeful international dynamic," in the context of Macky Sall's candidacy to succeed Antonio Guterres.
