Malaise à PASTEF : Clotilde Coly révèle son exclusion des canaux internes du parti
Invited to the GMS TV program, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Clotilde Coly, made revelations that are sure to fuel the political debate. Looking back on her time within PASTEF, she confided that she had been removed from the party's internal discussion groups after joining the government, while also expressing reservations about the current use of the concept of "patriotism."
Long perceived as a technocrat, Clotilde Coly reminded everyone that she has been a PASTEF activist since 2019. Recruited by a close friend who has since passed away, she explained that she joined the PASTEF Cadres Movement (MONCAP) and attended the party school's training courses.
Although she has a limited media presence due to her professional obligations in the private sector, she claims to have actively participated in activist activities. "When it was necessary to be on the ground during demonstrations, I was there. My job didn't allow me to be in the public eye, but that's not what I was looking for either," she stated.
The minister then revealed that following her appointment to the government, she was excluded from PASTEF's internal discussion groups. She said she accepted this decision without bitterness, believing that her new role required her to serve all Senegalese people rather than a political machine.
"No one has a land title to a country," she declared, insisting that government action must be guided by the general interest and the service of the Republic.
Another highlight of the interview was her reflection on the term "patriotism." Clotilde Coly believes that this concept has been gradually distorted in public debate. "In recent months, I've found it difficult to use the term 'patriotism.' I think it's become associated with a kind of groupthink, a term used to justify verbal abuse and attacks on social media. I prefer to talk about love of country," she explained.
The minister called for a more peaceful political debate, focused on results, social cohesion, and citizens' concerns. She reaffirmed her commitment to implementing President Bassirou Diomaye Faye's vision, prioritizing action and ethics in service of Senegal's youth and development.
