Message secret pour Diomaye et vérités crues : Les coulisses de la tournée de Yankhoba Diémé dans le Sud
to gather the grievances of the people and reaffirm the government's firm commitment to peace and regional development. A tour marked by intense prayers, massive popular mobilization, and sharp statements in response to opposition criticism.
The minister concluded his trip in Kataba 1, during the Ziarra of Sheikh Mahfouz Aïdara, where he conveyed the greetings of the Head of State and received the prayers of the General Caliph of the Sharifs for the stability of the sub-region. He also revealed that a sealed envelope, described as a "very powerful and strong" message, had been delivered to him personally for the President of the Republic. The minister found the requests made by the dignitaries particularly instructive, noting that several of them were already central to the Diomaye Plan for Casamance.
In terms of infrastructure, the government official highlighted the modernization of the Bignona–Diouloulou and Kataba–Darsalam axes, for which feasibility studies are underway, illustrating the central government's desire to open up the area.
Clarification in response to boycott rumors
This tour was marked by an enthusiastic welcome in Ziguinchor, Bignona, and the Fogny region, contradicting rumors of rejection spread by his political opponents. "It was claimed that I wouldn't even set foot in Ziguinchor... I'm here, and the debate has shifted," he declared, denouncing disinformation campaigns on social media.
Faced with accusations of political betrayal, Yankhoba Diémé delivered a methodical clarification: addressing the grievances of some local opinion who felt that the region had been deprived of a direct presidential candidacy, he responded that the choice made in 2024 on Bassirou Diomaye Faye constituted "the best choice for Senegal and for Casamance".
Addressing the youth of Kiiraay, the minister urged them to structure political work on the ground, through grassroots outreach, "from door to door, from mosque to mosque and from church to church".
Regarding the role of institutions, Yankhoba Diémé recalled that his position as head of the Ministry of the Armed Forces is part of a comprehensive vision of national security: "We must be there to plan, act and protect every citizen," he stated, concluding his remarks with a reminder of the rules of the democratic game: "In the end, may the best win."
