Modification de l'article 37 : Abdou Mbow dénonce l'incohérence des députés Pastef sur la déclaration de patrimoine
The debate on amending Article 37 of the Constitution has sparked another heated exchange in the National Assembly. Following Guy Marius Sagna, it was Abdou Mbow who strongly criticized the position of the Pastef deputies regarding the asset declarations of key state officials.
According to the opposition MP, the majority parliamentarians initially sought to introduce a provision allowing the Speaker of the National Assembly to declare their assets to OFNAC upon taking office, but not upon leaving office, and without this declaration being made public. " The Pastef MPs, in the text amending Article 37, wanted to pass a trick ," accused Abdou Mbow in plenary session.
According to him, the situation would have been different for the President of the Republic, whose asset declaration, both upon entering and leaving office, was required to be made public. The parliamentarian considers this difference in treatment to be deeply problematic.
Abdou Mbow asserts that the position of Pastef MPs shifted after the committee read the amendment introduced by the government through the Minister of Justice. According to him, the majority MPs ultimately accepted the amendment, primarily out of fear that the Senegalese people might suspect the Speaker of the National Assembly of trying to conceal information. " You must therefore explain in the report that you reluctantly accepted the amendment ," Abdou Mbow declared, addressing the majority benches.
Taking advantage of the absence of the President of the National Assembly during the debates, Abdou Mbow did not fail to directly attack him, calling him a " manipulator ", before extending his criticisms to all the parliamentarians of Pastef, whom he accused of " inconsistency ", " arrogance " and " ignorance ".
