Ousmane Sonko : « L’Assemblée qui contrôle doit accepter d’être contrôlée »
The Speaker of the National Assembly emphasized the exemplary nature of the parliamentary institution. In his view, the National Assembly cannot demand from other institutions the transparency that it refuses to apply to itself.
Indeed, Ousmane Sonko addressed this issue during the 2026/2027 parliamentary session. He discussed the measures taken since the installation of the new Assembly, particularly the regulation of aid and assistance provided by the institution, which he presented as a step towards greater transparency in its own operations. "The Assembly, which is responsible for oversight, must accept being overseen. We cannot demand of others what we would refuse to apply to ourselves," he stated.
Furthermore, Ousmane Sonko advocated for transparency that is independent of scandals, political shifts, and media denunciations. He hopes it will become standard practice, based on clear rules, accessible procedures, and oversight institutions with the necessary resources. He then reminded members of parliament that they must "place the public interest above private interests and make this session one of high standards, including for itself."
And to reiterate: "The trust of citizens is never a given. Never. It is earned, nurtured, and renewed through actions."
He concluded by stressing that "public affairs belong to the people and that institutions have a duty to be accountable for their actions."

Sonko est le plus grand, le plus honnete, le plus courageux politicien de l'histoire du Sénégal.
Lui, il fait toujours le contraire de ce qu'il dénonce ou interdit de faire. Un type vraiment faux.
