Pacte de stabilité sociale : Mamadou Lamine Dianté presse les syndicats de suspendre la grève
Of the 84 commitments made by the government, 35 have been fully implemented and 25 are underway, revealed the Minister of Public Service, Labor, and Public Service Reform, Mamadou Lamine Dianté, during the government's weekly press briefing. Following a marathon meeting of nearly five hours chaired by the Prime Minister, the former union leader called on the major labor unions to suspend their strike action until the next steering committee meeting, scheduled for January.
35 commitments fulfilled out of 84
The report presented by the minister indicates that 35 of the 84 activities included in the government's commitments have been fully completed, representing a completion rate of approximately 42%. With 25 other actions currently underway, Mamadou Lamine Dianté estimates that the overall completion rate could reach 71% by the end of the second half of the year.
Among the major achievements highlighted by the supervisory authority are the adoption, promulgation, and publication of the new Labor and Social Security Codes, as well as the extension of housing allowances to all state employees. The minister also mentioned the regularization of decision-making teachers, the recruitment (or hiring process) of more than 4,500 teachers and 2,500 healthcare workers, and the conversion of temporary contracts into permanent contracts, particularly within the public companies Dakar Dem Dikk and the Autonomous Port of Dakar.
Despite these quantified advances, notices and concerns persist on the part of trade union organizations, mainly relating to the pace of reintegration of certain dismissed workers and the application of certain regulatory provisions.
The government is requesting a moratorium until January
Faced with the threat of a public sector shutdown, Mamadou Lamine Dianté relayed the Prime Minister's solemn appeal to labor unions to suspend their protest actions. The government is requesting a moratorium until the next steering committee meeting, scheduled for January, to allow for continued negotiations and to resolve outstanding issues.
“The goal of the discussion is not victory, but improvement,” the minister emphasized, reaffirming that the government does not believe it is in a state of breakdown and remains open to social dialogue. While calling on union representatives to demonstrate responsibility and patriotism,
Mamadou Lamine Dianté nevertheless recalled that the State will ensure strict compliance with administrative rules, continuity of public service, and the guarantee of freedom of work throughout the national territory.
