Parcelles Assainies : Barthélemy Dias courtise un cadre de l'APR
Following the announcement of his return to political activity, former Dakar mayor and president of the Sénégal Binu Bokk movement, Barthélemy Dias, visited the Parcelles Assainies district, where he was seen leading a "very large delegation of his political staff" at the family home of Bocar Ndiongue. The newspaper Les Échos, which reported the story, describes Ndiongue as the "only known and acknowledged representative" of the Alliance for the Republic (APR) in this district.
According to the newspaper, this visit has political significance in the lead-up to the next elections. It illustrates that the battle to win over influential figures from the former regime is not solely a matter for the current government, the newspaper ironically noting that "it's not just Diomaye who needs the real leaders" of the APR party on his side. Through this trip, Barthélemy Dias is thus sending a political signal, while the same source believes that Macky Sall might be tempted to "secure the remaining officials" who have stayed loyal to his party.
