PASTEF Saly Joseph relance ses cellules de base et rend hommage aux militants de l'ombre
The PASTEF cell of Saly Joseph organised a day of tribute dedicated to the "unknown activists", these men and women in the shadows who contribute daily to the life of the party through mobilisation, door-to-door canvassing, massification and financing of political activities.
According to the head of the PASTEF cell Saly Joseph, deputy coordinator of the Senegalese Patriotic Youth (JPS) communal of Saly, head of the departmental JPS organization of Mbour and coordinator of PASTEF at the Amadou Mactar Mbow University, Aliou Diagne, this initiative aimed above all to recognize the commitment of these often little-visible activists.
"We wanted to pay tribute to these activists who do the bulk of the work at the grassroots level. Without them, the party could not function as it does today," he said.
The meeting also marked the relaunch of the cell's activities around the theme "The role of the cell for the success of the project", broken down into three axes: the training of activists, the search for funding and massification.
For the organizers, the local cell is the foundation of the party. It is the cell that maintains direct contact with the people and conducts grassroots campaigns. Aliou Diagne therefore called on the leaders of the sometimes inactive cells to revitalize their structures so that they can fully play their role in implementing the political project.
Addressing the issue of membership cards, he clarified that their sale is a matter of national coordination. However, he indicated that their launch is expected in the coming days, as activists are showing great anticipation for this initiative.
Beyond political activities, the cell intends to continue its civic actions, including reforestation operations and community initiatives, with the ambition of remaining one of the most dynamic structures in the municipality.
Present at this meeting, MP Abdoulaye Tall looked back on the party's history, mentioning the years of persecution, imprisonment and hardship endured by activists before they came to power.
According to him, the 2024 victory transcends individuals and primarily represents the "project" championed by PASTEF. He urged activists to prioritize building future generations rather than solely focusing on electoral considerations.
The parliamentarian also stressed the need to prepare for the 2027 territorial elections and the 2029 presidential election, while praising the strong turnout for the launch of party membership card sales. He stated that more than 103,000 cards were purchased on the first day, with a target of one million members.
Abdoulaye Tall finally urged activists to respect the party leadership's guidelines, avoid provocations, and remain disciplined around official instructions.
For his part, the coordinator of the PASTEF communal section in Saly, Mamadou Diallo, indicated that this meeting is part of the application of circular n°001/2026-10/SG inviting grassroots cells and movements to increase civic actions in order to revitalize local structures.
For him, "everything starts from the ground up." The cells constitute the first link in the organization and remain essential to strengthening the party and anchoring its project among the people.
