« Peut-on accepter cette opacité ?» : le Juge Dème relance le débat sur les fonds politiques
The Government of Senegal has decided to provide assistance to people experiencing severe food insecurity and to livestock farmers facing the lean season. This will be done through a food and livestock assistance plan. This initiative has generated numerous reactions.
The president of the Together for Work, Integrity, Ethics and Citizenship (ETIC) movement, Ibrahima Hamidou Dème, took advantage of this announcement to revive the debate on the management of political funds.
“The government has announced that it has mobilized 7.2 billion FCFA to finance a food and livestock assistance plan for 836,786 people in a situation of severe food insecurity as well as 490,214 livestock units. In a country where the social emergency is so acute, can we accept that political authorities have several billion FCFA of political funds managed in the greatest opacity?” he asked.
As a reminder, the man commonly known as "Judge Dème" has already petitioned the ECOWAS Court of Justice to obtain from the State of Senegal the publication of the amounts allocated to the President of the Republic and the Prime Minister as political funds.
This request was introduced the day after Ousmane Sonko's statements, in which he claimed to have, in his capacity as Prime Minister, political funds of more than 1.7 billion FCFA, without specifying whether this amount was paid quarterly or annually.
