Politics: Taxawu Senegal denounces a "biased interpretation" regarding possible collaboration with the government

Politique : Taxawu Sénégal dénonce une « interprétation partisane » sur une éventuelle collaboration avec le pouvoir

Taxawu Senegal has responded to reports of internal discussions regarding a potential collaboration with the current regime. In a statement released on Thursday, September 17, 2026, Khalifa Sall's party asserted that the media's portrayal of these discussions stemmed "more from partisan interpretation than from rigorous factual reporting." It specifically denounced a "selective" reading of the debates.

According to the spokesperson, positions taken outside the National Political Bureau remain individual. "The National Political Bureau is a democratic framework where each official is free to express their opinion. Individual positions cannot be considered an official party stance," Youssouph Mbow emphasized.

He accuses the media of having reduced "several hours of debates within the National Political Bureau to a few isolated remarks attributed to certain participants." He describes this approach as "bad faith."

According to Taxawu Senegal, discussions at last Saturday's meeting focused on "the persistent high cost of living, the decline in household purchasing power, the growing difficulties of the rural world, the constraints faced by farmers," as well as the problems of marketing agricultural products.

For the political party, "ignoring all these concerns and focusing only on a few individual interventions constitutes a clear distortion of the reality of the discussions."

Regarding its political stance, Taxawu maintains that it remains faithful to the guidelines defined by its governing bodies. "Takhawou Sénégal remains faithful to its political line, defined by its competent bodies and supported by its leadership," affirms Youssouph Mbow.
