Rejet de la LFR 2026 : La société civile appelle à la responsabilité, au dialogue et à la préservation de l’intérêt des populations
Faced with institutional tensions stemming from the rejection of the 2026 supplementary budget law and the uncertainties surrounding the 2027 budget, twenty civil society organizations are sounding the alarm. According to them, "the interests of the people cannot be held hostage to political disagreements. Responsibility, dialogue, and respect for institutions must prevail."
Thus, they warn against the risks of default and bankruptcy, and urge the Head of State and the President of the National Assembly to prioritize dialogue and consultation.
“This situation arises in a particularly difficult economic and financial context, marked by significant budgetary constraints, the high cost of living, employment challenges, and growing social expectations. The rejection of the Finance Law exacerbates this worrying situation, which borders on default and exposes the country to the risk of bankruptcy. Such a situation could jeopardize the continuity of public services, the financing of social programs, and economic recovery efforts,” states a press release signed by twenty civil society organizations.
Regretting that disagreements between political and institutional actors are taking precedence over citizens' concerns, these organizations reiterate that the higher interest of the Nation must prevail over partisan considerations.
"While disagreements and power struggles are inherent to democratic life, their resolution must be in accordance with the Constitution, the prerogatives of each institution, and the general interest. The harmonious functioning of republican institutions remains an essential condition for national stability and the pursuit of public policies," the organizations stated.
At this stage, they solemnly call upon the President of the Republic and the President of the National Assembly to prioritize dialogue and consultation, in a spirit of responsibility and mutual respect in the best interests of the Nation.
The statement is signed by twenty organizations (COSCE, PACTE, Afrikajom Center, Forum du justiciable, ONG 3D, Réseau Siggil Jigeen, Présence chrétienne, ONDH, AFEX, GRADEC, Dialogue citoyen, OSIDEA, CONASUB, CERAG, RADDHO, Handicap Form Educ, LSDH, Voix des victimes, AJED, Bokk Joom), who reaffirm their willingness to contribute to any constructive initiative.
