Salémata : le président du Conseil départemental rejoint Kiiray-Les Patriotes, la dynamique politique s’accélère.
The political landscape of the Salémata department continues to undergo profound upheaval. The wave of memberships in the Kiiray-Les Patriotes party shows no sign of abating and has seen another significant addition with the rallying of the president of the Departmental Council, accompanied by all his close collaborators and advisors.
This new membership comes amid a series of defections to the political party supporting the President of the Republic. In recent weeks, about ten officials from the PASTEF-Les Patriotes departmental office had already joined Kiiray-Les Patriotes, followed by the six mayors of the Salémata department.
For the president of the Departmental Council, this decision is primarily driven by the desire to defend the interests of the local population. He believes that the department of Salémata, since its creation, continues to face significant development challenges that require greater synergy with national authorities.
“Our choice is motivated by the best interests of the people. Salémata still lags significantly behind in terms of development and access to basic social services. We felt it was our responsibility to join this movement in order to better address the concerns of the inhabitants and contribute to accelerating the development of the department,” he explained.
This endorsement, considered one of the most significant recorded in recent months in the department, strengthens the presence of Kiiray-Les Patriotes in this part of the Kédougou region. With the successive endorsements of local elected officials, political leaders, and now the president of the Departmental Council, the party is considerably reinforcing its local roots as the next political elections approach.
Observers believe that this reshuffling could reshuffle the cards of the local political landscape, both because of the influence of the personalities involved and their ability to mobilize on the ground.
