Sanctions de Trump : le soutien de Al Amine Lô au procureur sénégalais de la CPI, Mame Mandiaye Niang
The acting prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Mame Mandiaye Niang, is currently visiting Senegal. He was received by Prime Minister Al Aminou Lô, among others. In an interview published this Thursday in L'Observateur, the magistrate stated that discussions with the head of government focused on the state of international criminal justice, noting that the ICC, the court responsible for its proper functioning, has recently been facing significant challenges.
Members of the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and Chad have withdrawn from the Rome Statute. Russia is retaliating against the ICC, which dared to issue a warrant against Putin, while the United States, since the announcement of the charges against Netanyahu, has been increasing sanctions against its members.
Senegalese nationals Mame Mandiaye Niang and Abdoulaye Sène, who leads the investigation into the situation in Palestine, have been struck down by the Trump administration.
This situation weakens international justice and personally displeases the ICC judges involved. The acting ICC prosecutor assures that he and his colleagues intend to confront it, and that he has the support of his country.
"The sanctions are still in place, along with the restrictions imposed on us. We continue our work without wavering. And I was proud to receive the renewed support of my country through the Prime Minister. The government remains attentive to everything that can be done to make our lives easier, but we are holding firm."
