Sangalkam: Lamine Diagne goes on the offensive for Kiiraay and challenges Pape Sow

In Keur Ndiaye Lo, Lamine Diagne is now clearly displaying his political ambitions. The Kiiraay leader is holding numerous meetings with key figures in Sangalkam with the aim of uniting political and community actors around President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

Political leaders, village chiefs, neighborhood leaders, and young people were met by the man who now intends to have a greater influence on local politics. Capable of mobilizing people, even spontaneously, Lamine Diagne is gradually establishing himself as a figure who attracts attention and garners the support of a segment of the local youth.

"Change Sangalkam"

In his approach, Lamine Diagne says he prioritizes an 'objective' struggle for the development of the commune. He is regularly surrounded by young people mobilized around a common goal: ''change Sangalkam''.

Addressing these young people, the leader of Kiiraay called for collective mobilization to help the municipality overcome its difficulties, particularly those related to land, an issue that continues to fuel local tensions and disputes. This political move directly positions Lamine Diagne as a candidate for municipal leadership, challenging the current mayor, Pape Sow.

A claimed social base

Lamine Diagne is not starting from scratch, however. For several years, he has been leading numerous social initiatives in the municipality: providing water pumps to combat flooding, granting funding to women, organizing neighborhood clean-up campaigns, and supporting sports and cultural associations. For this outing, he was accompanied by Ms. Tabaski Ba Diagne, recently appointed director of the Case des Tout-Petits (Early Childhood Center). A former coordinator for Pastef (the local party), Lamine Diagne says he left that position to support President Bassirou Diomaye Faye. He now intends to transform his community ties into a genuine political force.

Kiiraay's conquest of Sangalkam

By seeking to unite local leaders and youth around Kiiraay, Lamine Diagne is demonstrating an ambition that extends beyond his own political party. His objective is to establish a solid political base for Kiiraay at the municipal level, while also calling on the various political forces present in Sangalkam to converge towards the goal of supporting President Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

In the long run, this strategy could establish a new political configuration in the commune and make Lamine Diagne one of the main challengers to Mayor Pape Sow in the battle for leadership of Sangalkam.
