Amadou Ba, MP and communications officer for Pastef, has summarized the work of the committee reviewing the bills from the extraordinary session of the National Assembly. In a post published this Friday on the social network X, the parliamentarian revealed that several bills initiated by parliamentarians were categorically rejected by the executive branch.
Among the rejected texts was the proposal requiring prior presentation of oil and gas contracts to the National Assembly. According to Amadou Ba, this initiative aimed to give members of parliament the right to review and be informed about the contractual terms before any final signature by the State.
The government also rejected the bill on mental health care in prisons, a subject considered a priority given the conditions of detention.
Another major sticking point: the text aimed at regulating and ensuring the ethical standards of special funds. According to the MP, the executive branch opposed this reform, arguing that these funds remain essential for carrying out urgent and discreet social actions, commonly referred to as Soutoureu .
According to Pastef's communications director, these fundamental disagreements foreshadow heated debates during the parliamentary review of the bills. Amadou Ba believes that the plenary sessions scheduled for next week will provide a platform for explanation and an opportunity for definitive clarification between proponents and opponents of public transparency.
