Sonko à Keur Mame Elhadji : la famille Ndièguène magnifie son projet pour le Sénégal
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, visited the religious community of Keur Mame Elhadji in Thiès. He led a large delegation that included El Malick Ndour, Aïda Mbodj, Amadou Bâ, and Waly Diouf Bodiang.
The Pastef leader was received by Serigne Cissé Ndièguène, representative of the Caliph General, Serigne Mounirou Ndièguène. During this meeting, Ousmane Sonko reiterated his close ties with the Ndièguène family, particularly through his association with Birame Souleye Diop, a member of this religious family.
The Speaker of the National Assembly explained that their relationship dates back to their student days at Gaston Berger University in Saint-Louis (UGB), before continuing at the Tax and Land Registry, where they worked together. Their partnership then extended into the political arena with the creation of Pastef.
For Ousmane Sonko, these ties now extend far beyond the political sphere. He has thus reaffirmed the great importance he attaches to the Ndièguène family and his relations with this religious community.
Speaking on behalf of the Caliph General, Serigne Cissé Ndièguène welcomed the visit of the President of the National Assembly and his delegation. The religious leader also praised Ousmane Sonko's political commitment, which he associates with the desire to build a sovereign Senegal founded on equity.
“What you want is a sovereign Senegal, a state of law where all citizens will be treated equally. What you want is social equity, a developed country where everyone will enjoy the benefits. You want a country where Islamic values will be respected,” said Serigne Cissé Ndièguène.
The representative of the Caliph then offered prayers for the success of the President of the National Assembly's ambitions for Senegal. "May God grant your wishes. I pray that God fulfills your ambitions for Senegal," he added.
Serigne Cissé Ndièguène finally renewed Keur Mame Elhadji's support for Ousmane Sonko, thus giving a special dimension to this visit as the Gamou approaches.
