Soutien du Sénégal à Macky Sall pour l’ONU : Le Collectif des victimes dénonce une décision « incompréhensible »
The Collective of Victims of Macky Sall's Regime expresses a profound incomprehension and its deep concern following the decision of the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, to support the candidacy of the former Head of State for the post of Secretary-General of the United Nations.
In a statement released on Monday, July 20, the organization believes that this support cannot make people forget "the suffering endured" by the victims of the events that occurred between 2021 and 2024, nor call into question "the imperative of truth, justice and reparation."
In this regard, Boubacar Sèye and others demand an examination "by the competent jurisdictions and institutions" of the "serious allegations of human rights violations, loss of life, arbitrary arrests, detentions and alleged acts of torture".
The victims' collective clarifies that "the pursuit of justice is not directed against anyone" and presents it as "a moral and republican duty towards the victims, their families, and the memory of our nation." It further believes that "no political or diplomatic considerations should hinder this process."
