Tensions autour de la LFR 2026 : Doudou Ka propose à Diomaye Faye une « Majorité Parlementaire Alternative »
The president of the Party for Greater Senegal (PGS), Doudou Ka, directly appeals to the head of state, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, urging him to establish an Alternative Parliamentary Majority for Refoundation (MPAR).
In a scathing statement, the former minister openly accuses the president of the National Assembly, Ousmane Sonko, of seeking to provoke a major institutional crisis by deliberately blocking the adoption of the 2026 amending finance bill (LFR).
" Political blackmail by December 2nd"
According to Doudou Ka, Ousmane Sonko's maneuver is driven by a strict personal agenda linked to his legal and parliamentary future: "Six weeks. That's the timeframe former Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko has set for himself to try to sow discord, derail the 2026 supplementary budget law, and force, at the cost of a crisis, negotiations with an executive branch he fears. On December 2, 2026, two years to the day after this legislature was installed, the parliamentary protection will end, and the question of his five-year ineligibility, which was supposed to run until January 2029, will resurface. Now is the time to act to save the Republic," he stated.
For the leader of the PGS, the budgetary demands expressed in parliament are merely negotiating tactics: “Why is he acting now? It’s neither for the budget, nor for social equity, nor for the poorest households, nor for economic stability. The fuel subsidies and the control of special funds, brandished on October 19, 2026, are just pretexts: a Speaker of the National Assembly who conditions the vote on any law to his own demands is not defending the Senegalese people, he is negotiating for himself. The budgetary crisis is just a distraction. The real issue is him,” asserts Mr. Ka.
The option of constitutional levers and the Republican Front
Faced with this deadlock, the former minister points out the existence of two decisive constitutional levers available to the executive: Article 86 relating to the question of confidence and Article 87 governing the dissolution of the National Assembly.
Doudou Ka thus makes a solemn appeal to President Bassirou Diomaye Faye to unite all republican political forces around a "Republican Front." This emergency coalition would be tasked with forming a new parliamentary majority focused on restoring public finances, reviving the economy, and preserving institutional stability.
“The Republic will not be held hostage. The countdown has begun, for everyone,” Doudou Ka concluded.
