Transhumance politique : Amadou Bâ dénonce une banalisation de la « fin des valeurs » au Palais
The increasing number of mayors joining the presidential camp has not gone unnoticed. Amadou Bâ, a Pastef MP and former Minister of Culture, has spoken out to denounce what he considers a normalization of political opportunism and a departure from the principles that underpinned the project of change.
In a particularly critical opinion piece, the parliamentarian argues that the restructuring of public debt has clearly not overshadowed the regime's "political calculations".
According to him, the pace of mayors rallying to the presidential camp has even seen a "stratospheric leap" this week, through a succession of announcements and publications.
Amadou Bâ is particularly surprised by the silence of the presidential party's leaders in the face of this dynamic. He believes they are avoiding communicating about this shift, which he likens to a form of complicity with the practices of the old "SYSTEM".
"Who would have said it? Who would have believed it? How could seeds of Pastef have given rise to buds of the old SYSTEM? What about the bitter fruits that will come from it!" he wonders.
The MP goes further, denouncing the normalization of political defection. In his view, even under Macky Sall's regime, this practice retained "some discretion".
Today, he laments, "no one is shocked anymore to see the Presidential Palace transformed into a vulgar annex of the presidential party," where support is bargained like in a souk.
According to him, this political unrest comes at a particularly worrying time for the country, marked by the restructuring of public debt.
Amadou Bâ hopes that after the incessant parade of transhumant people, the President of the Republic will receive the vital forces of the Nation, the artisans, the business leaders especially SMEs/SMIs, the farmers, the unions, the banks, the consumers etc.
In conclusion, Amadou Bâ denounces what he calls "an ideological, political and economic break with sovereignty, patriotism, political ethics and the end of Jub, Jubal, Jubanti".
