Ziguinchor : Le Mouvement des personnes handicapées rallie Kiiraay et salue les politiques sociales
The Patriotic and Republican Movement of People Living with Disabilities (MPRPH), led by El Hadj Omar Diaw, announced its support for President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and its official affiliation with the Kiiraay party. This decision was motivated by social progress in favor of inclusion and the reduction of inequalities.
“We express our indescribable support for His Excellency the President of the Republic and announce our membership in the Kiiraay party,” said El Hadj Omar Diaw, surrounded by about ten leaders of member organizations, this Sunday.
The leader of the MPRPH welcomed the implementation of the social reintegration law and the integration of 25,000 disabled people holding the equal opportunity card into the Social Security Scholarship Program.
He nevertheless urged the authorities to accelerate the implementation of the provisions of this law in order to facilitate access to support and assistance mechanisms.
The movement also highlighted the relevance of the Diomaye Plan projects for Casamance, which aim to improve living conditions for all populations without discrimination. People with disabilities reaffirmed their commitment to supporting all initiatives that promote social inclusion and equal opportunities.
Present at the meeting, Idrissa Benjamin Sané, founding member of Kiiraay and declared candidate for mayor of Ziguinchor in 2027, welcomed this support: "You have made the right choice. The president and his prime minister have placed people with disabilities at the heart of their plan. Your membership strengthens the momentum of our party."
Mr. Sané highlighted the efforts already made, particularly the reservation of positions for people with disabilities in the recruitment of 2,700 teachers, and promised that, once elected mayor, he would give them a central role in local governance. "They will be involved in decision-making bodies and will have a say in our mandate."
This rallying illustrates the recognition of the social policies carried out by the State and confirms the will of people living with a disability to participate actively in the political life and development of Casamance.
