Cri du cœur des ex-travailleurs de l'usine Nsts de Thiès : Le Pdg Ibrahima Macodou Fall apporte des précisions et observations
Following the article published on October 24, 2026, under the title: "NSTS Factory in Thiès: The collective of former workers launches yet another cry from the heart to the authorities", the President and CEO of the New Senegalese Textile Company (NSTS), Ibrahima Macodou Fall, through a right of reply, wished to provide a number of clarifications and observations.
According to the factory's CEO, the people speaking on behalf of this group are retirees from NSTS and the Thiès Spinning and Weaving Mill (FTT).
Regarding the demands for wages and technical unemployment benefits, Ibrahima Macodou Fall formally denies the allegations of salary arrears. "These demands are unfounded. There is no technical unemployment benefit that has not been paid," he stated.
Before continuing: "The only remaining rights to be settled concern the retirement benefits of workers who reached retirement age during the period of production stoppage at the factories. These workers have already received 50% of their retirement benefits. The balance of these benefits therefore constitutes the only remaining amount to be paid."
Regarding the ownership of the industrial site and the origin of the group's difficulties, Mr. Fall reiterated that NSTS is a fully private company, comprised of Senegalese and French capital, and that it is the sole owner of the assets at the Thiès site. According to him, "the current difficulties of the NSTS group's factories are directly linked to the dispute between our group and the State of Senegal. This dispute concerns 10 billion CFA francs of investments in the SOTEXKA factories, of which we believe we have been deprived to this day."
He explains that "without this situation, the NSTS factories would not have experienced the difficulties they are facing today." He reiterates that "safeguarding this facility and continuing its revitalization are essential for employment in Thiès and constitute my primary focus."
Regarding the steps taken with the authorities, Ibrahima Macodou Fall notes that "contrary to what the appeal to the authorities by the former workers might suggest, the general management of NSTS has, on several occasions, contacted the highest authorities of the Republic about the problems at the origin of the group's difficulties."
Regarding the continuation of the industrial program, the CEO of the New Senegalese Textile Company (NSTS) notes that "the final settlement of the dispute with the State is essential to restoring the financial health of NSTS and to continuing its industrial program, which will create 1,000 jobs at the Thiès site." He also reassured stakeholders: "Our efforts are aimed at preserving the production facilities and ensuring the continuation of this program."
