Daouda Ngom sur le lancement prochain du parti de Diomaye : « Il sera bâti sur les cendres de l’APR »
President Bassirou Diomaye Faye is preparing to cross the Rubicon by officially launching his own political party on August 8th. This decision seals the now definitive break with his former mentor, ex-Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko, and formalizes the divorce after months of simmering discord.
Within the PASTEF party, the response—tinged with irony—was swift. Invited to the Sunday program "Objection" on Sud FM, Daouda Ngom, former minister and close associate of Ousmane Sonko, appeared visibly amused by the decision of his now former party colleague. "This doesn't shake us," he declared confidently, dismissing the threat of electoral competition with a wave of his hand.
For Mr. Ngom, the identity and roots of this future political party, whose acronym has not yet been leaked, are beyond doubt. "This party will be built on the ashes of the APR. He (President Diomaye, editor's note) has even received more than 300 APR mayors at the Palace," he emphasizes.
According to Daouda Ngom, given the numerous concerns of the Senegalese people, the President should have a different priority than setting up a party. "Unfortunately, what we see is politics at all costs. The priority for those in power is how to poach activists from the APR," he denounces.
