Me Moustapha Kamara dénonce les défaillances de la FSF : «Il existe un véritable décalage entre la qualité de nos joueurs et celle de l’encadrement fédéral»
Senegal's elimination from the World Cup continues to generate numerous reactions. Among the most critical voices is that of Moustapha Kamara, a lawyer at the Marseille bar and a specialist in sports law. In his analysis, he criticizes the shortcomings of the governance of the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF). He believes that the Lions' poor performance stems from a lack of preparation and organization.
For Master Moustapha Kamara, a World Cup cannot be improvised. According to him, an ambitious federation must prepare a competition of this magnitude several months in advance, anticipating the administrative, sporting and logistical aspects.
"You can't approach a World Cup without proper preparation. Preparation doesn't happen during the competition. A major federation must, at least six months before the World Cup, have anticipated the difficulties, planned its organization and resolved the main problems," he says.
The lawyer specifically points to several dysfunctions which, according to him, weakened the national team even before the tournament began. He mentions the lack of a contract for the coach, delays in paying the technical staff's salaries, and difficulties related to bonuses, visas, logistics, and even the players' food.
In his view, the decision to recruit a video analyst after Senegal's first defeat illustrates a blatant lack of foresight.
"For several years now, major national teams have had complete teams made up of video analysts, physical trainers and specialists who work together on a daily basis. This type of organization is not put in place during a World Cup," he emphasizes.
For Maître Kamara, the real problem lies in the gap between the level of Senegalese players and that of their administrative staff.
"There is a real gap between the quality of our players, their level of performance and that of the federal management," he insists.
The lawyer points out that most Senegalese internationals play in the top European and Asian leagues, for prestigious clubs such as Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, and Al-Hilal. He believes their talent is not in question.
"When you have very high-quality players, you also need a federal structure and administration that matches their talent," he says.
"As long as this gap between the level of our international players and that of the federal coaching staff persists, the same difficulties are likely to recur," he warns.
Lawyer Moustapha Kamara is calling for a fundamental reflection on the governance of Senegalese football. According to him, Senegal, recognized as a great footballing nation, deserves a federation capable of supporting the ambition and talent of its players in order to compete sustainably with the best teams in the world.
