And Gueusseum durcit le ton et annonce une grève totale de 48 heures le 13 août
The Alliance of Autonomous Health Unions (ASAS) and Gueusseum has taken a new step in its standoff with the government. Believing that the commitments made by the authorities remain unfulfilled, the union leadership has unveiled its 13th action plan, marked in particular by a 48-hour total strike, the elimination of minimum service requirements, and the withholding of health and social data.
After twelve successive action plans, And Gueusseum asserts that the mobilization of healthcare workers remains exceptional. The movement claims participation rates ranging between 98% and 100% in the majority of the country's healthcare facilities, particularly in hospitals, centers, and health posts.
For union officials, this strong support reflects the workers' determination to obtain the full implementation of the agreements signed with the State.
Faced with what it calls the government's "persistent inertia", the trade union cartel announces a total strike of forty-eight hours, on Thursday 13 and Friday 14 August, the day after the Grand Magal of Touba.
According to And Gueusseum, this new phase of struggle aims to force the authorities to respect their commitments and to put an end to a social crisis that has been ongoing for several months.
The labor movement will also, starting August 10th and until further notice, withhold health and social information, while continuing its boycott of the supervision, coordination, and outreach activities of the National Tuberculosis Control Program. This decision marks a clear radicalization of the movement.
In its statement, And Gueusseum emphasizes that employees participating in the strike will remain at home during the work stoppage and will therefore not be required to provide care or services. The union reiterates that the responsibility for ensuring the continuity of public hospital services rests exclusively with the State, the guarantor of the population's right to health.
Union leaders also expressed regret over what they perceived as a lack of involvement from the Minister of Health in finding a solution to the crisis. They denounced salary deductions, threats against strikers, and a lack of dialogue that could facilitate addressing the social issues inherited by the ministry.
In conclusion, the National Directorate of And Gueusseum congratulates the mobilized workers and invites them to maintain the pressure until their demands are fully met.
Convinced that "victory is within reach", the movement calls on all its members to remain united in the face of the "delaying tactics" it attributes to the government.
