Camp d'enrôlement à la CSU/Rufisque: Dr El Hadji Sega Gurye montre la voie aux collectivités territoriales
The Regional Training Center for Education Personnel (EX-IEF) in Rufisque hosted a large Universal Health Coverage enrollment camp for the population of the department from August 13 to 16, 2026.
At the end of the camp, nearly 2,500 people were enrolled, and the Director General of SEN-CSU, Dr. El Hadji Sega Gueye, presented them with their cards on site. This card presentation ceremony was attended by municipal, traditional, and other prominent figures from the department.
This was an opportunity for Dr. El Hadji Sega Gueye to call on local authorities to embrace the program and enable vulnerable populations in their communities to benefit from Universal Health Coverage (UHC). This program allows Senegalese citizens to access healthcare at a lower cost in all public health facilities across the country. “We launched the second phase of our national campaign in Rufisque, where we were able to enroll nearly 2,500 people in just four days. We will be holding similar camps in all 45 other departments of the country to reach even more people,” stated the head of the National Health Service for Universal Health Coverage (SEN-CSU).
He also welcomed the results of the free kidney disease screening sessions, combined with the recruitment camp, which reached more than 600 people. “The idea is to prevent chronic diseases instead of focusing our interventions solely on treatment,” explained Dr. Gueye.
Attending the closing ceremony of the enrollment camp, the Honorable Khady Sarr, Member of Parliament and Chair of the National Assembly's Health, Population, and Social Affairs Committee, warmly congratulated the Director General of SEN-CSU, who is on track to "succeed in ensuring the program is embraced by the population." She also urged local authorities to "support the CSU program and promote it to their constituents, as it is the best way to access healthcare without significant difficulty." "The CSU program implemented by SEN-CSU is one of the most important programs and deserves all the necessary attention and support for its development," stated the Honorable Khady Sarr.
