The social climate is tense at Pikine Hospital. In a press conference this Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the Union of Contractual Health and Social Action Agents (SACTSAS) contested the administration's decision to organize a second round for the election of the staff representative.

Speaking to the press, SACTSAS, through its general secretary, Coumba Sadiane Faye, denounced a decision it considers contrary to the consensus-based process that governed the organization of the election. The union members also demanded the immediate installation of their candidate, Moussa Ali, who received the most votes in the first round with 103.

According to Ms. Faye, the entire procedure was organized "on the basis of a consensus" between the inter-union group and the administration. "The consensus was to discuss with the inter-union group and find a consensus on how to organize the electorate [...] Everything that was the subject of this selection was a consensus process," she stated.

Ms. Faye indicated that no appeals had been registered within the prescribed time limits before the administration notified the organization of a second round, based on the provisions of a decree mentioning the requirement of an absolute majority. "We never discussed this absolute majority from the outset," she stated.

The inter-union group is demanding the installation of Moussa Ali as staff representative, arguing that the first-round results reflect the consensus that governed the organization of the election. Ms. Faye, however, assured that their action is not disrupting the operation of the institution.

"The movement is not disrupting the service. It has nothing to do with work. We are not in an attack phase, nor in a war phase, nor in a strike phase. These are just legitimate demands," she clarified.

According to her, the wearing of red armbands observed recently was solely intended to express their dissatisfaction with the administration's decision. "What we are asking for is the installation of our representative, Moussa Ali, and for the work to continue to ensure the proper care of our patients and the smooth running of the hospital," she concluded.

    Consensus illégal il y a 4 mois
S'il y'a a un décret qui organise les élections on ne peut pas invoquer un consensus contraire. Il serait illégal. Tout perdant pourrait intenter un recours qui annulerait la victoire.
