Enrollment of 1,000 artists in Universal Health Coverage: SEN-CSU and FDCUIC sign partnership

Enrôlement de 1000 artistes dans la Couverture Sanitaire Universelle : La SEN-CSU et le FDCUIC signent le partenariat

It's official. The Director General of the Senegalese Agency for Universal Health Coverage (SEN-CSU), Dr. El Hadji Séga GUEYE and his counterpart from the Fund for the Development of Urban Cultures and Creative Industries (FDCUIC), Mr. Seck DIENG, signed a partnership agreement on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, to enroll 1,000 artists in the Universal Health Coverage program.

This partnership stems from a shared ambition to make health insurance in Senegal a truly accessible and high-quality instrument of social protection, benefiting those who do not yet have health coverage. “Through this partnership, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting cultural stakeholders, particularly artists, in improving their access to healthcare and sustainable social protection. The enrollment of these 1,000 artists is therefore a significant step, full of hope and solidarity. It reflects our shared determination to leave no one behind in terms of health. We are therefore delighted with this collaboration and hope that it will pave the way for other initiatives promoting the well-being and social protection of those working in the cultural sector,” stated Dr. El Hadji Séga Gueye, Director General of SEN-CSU.

For his part, Seck Dieng praised the availability and commitment of all the teams who worked to bring this partnership to fruition, announcing his plan to expand enrollment to other sectors of the cultural industry. "I am delighted with this partnership with Universal Health Coverage, which will address the issue of access to healthcare for artists who often face these difficulties. I must also say that this cohort of 1,000 artists is just one step, while we await other similar projects to offer more opportunities to the cultural ecosystem," stated Seck Dieng.

True to its mission, SEN-CSU continues to expand its initiatives to support populations in the informal sector who lack insurance coverage. It intends to pursue this momentum towards a more just and equitable Senegal for all.
