Epidémie de diphtérie : Kaolack organise la riposte
The deputy governor in charge of development for Kaolack, Mamadou Abib Camara, chaired a regional epidemic management committee meeting on Monday, in the presence of the committee members. The objective was to share a regional prevention and response plan to address the resurgence of the diphtheria epidemic.

To this end, a prevention and response plan against diphtheria was presented following the presentation of a table on the epidemiological situation related to this disease.
But Mamadou Abib Camara reassured: “At the regional level, the situation is not alarming. Of the 92 suspected cases identified, eight have tested positive, with only one death. Three people are under observation. Compared to other affected regions, the situation is under control. This is why we felt it necessary to consult with all stakeholders to present the regional situation and the prevention measures to be implemented, as well as to make the regional response plan available by conducting awareness campaigns for parents and children, because schools will be reopening soon.”

The deputy governor took the opportunity to appeal to health workers to suspend their strike order in order to deal with this epidemic which is gaining ground.
