Grève du SAMES : 98,9 % d’observance, neuf zones à 100 %… la mobilisation atteint un nouveau sommet
The Autonomous Union of Doctors of Senegal (SAMES) claims near-total mobilization for the first day of its new strike action. According to its own count, 98.9% of the staff concerned observed the strike on Wednesday, September 16, with nine areas reporting a 100% participation rate.
The figure is particularly high. For its third day of assessed strike action since the start of this sequence, SAMES announces a national compliance rate of 98.9%, compared to only 1.1% of non-strikers.
According to the evaluation document prepared by the SAMES National Executive Bureau (NEB), this is the highest level of mobilization recorded to date. The rate was 97.5% on September 8, then 98.1% on September 9, before reaching 98.9% on September 16. In the space of eight days, the union's claimed compliance thus increased by 1.4 points.
Nine zones at 100%
Mobilization reached its maximum in nine zones. Thiès, Ziguinchor, Kaolack, Fatick, Tambacounda, Kaffrine, Kolda, Sédhiou and Kédougou showed, according to SAMES, a 100% compliance rate.
The union highlights a clear progression compared to the start of the movement. The number of areas reaching this level of mobilization increased over the course of the days assessed.
Other areas also show particularly high rates. Louga is at 98.9%, Diourbel at 98.7% and Dakar at 98.6%, according to the ranking released by the BEN.
At the other end of the spectrum, Saint-Louis and Matam each recorded 96.2%. SAMES nevertheless considers these results to be indicative of "good compliance", while noting that they remain below the 97% threshold used in its assessment.
The BEN notes in particular a persistent decline in Saint-Louis and calls for strengthening the mobilization there for the continuation of the movement.
Almost total mobilization, but figures still need to be verified
Despite this national rate of 98.9%, the union acknowledges that its dashboard is not yet fully consolidated. Data is missing, in particular, for Tivaouane, in the Thiès region, and the Touba health district, in the Diourbel region. The document also points out inconsistencies in some forms submitted by Louga and Saint-Louis.
The BEN therefore requests verifications before the reporting is closed.
Despite these reservations, SAMES interprets the increase in compliance as a "strong signal of union determination." The union therefore advocates maintaining the strike call and intensifying mobilization in areas where rates are lowest.
The slogan remains in place for September 17th
For Thursday, September 17, SAMES recommends that its structures maintain the slogan, strengthen mobilization and continue to ensure the reliability of data.
If the figures provided by the union are confirmed after consolidation, this third day therefore marks a new peak in the observance claimed since the beginning of this strike sequence.
98.9% nationally, nine zones at 100%: SAMES presents this day as a record mobilization.
