Hôpital Mame Dabakh : Retard dans la mise en service d’équipements de dialyse offerts par une Fondation marocaine depuis 2 ans
In Tivaouane, the delay in putting into operation hemodialysis equipment donated by a Moroccan foundation to the family of El Hadji Malick Sy and given free of charge to the Mame Abdou Aziz Sy Dabakh Hospital for the benefit of the local population is causing concern. This has prompted a heartfelt plea from Abdou Aziz Diop, a grandson of Mame Maodo and a civil society activist, who, in an appeal entitled "SOS Tivaouane Department," is urging the relevant authorities to expedite the process.
Mr. Diop points out that more than two years after this "significant donation, the equipment is still not operational, while the Tivaouane department currently has no functioning hemodialysis unit." The donation includes five dialysis machines, a water treatment unit essential for the service's operation, and a large stock of medical supplies.
The religious leader observes that "due to the lack of use of this equipment for a very long time, some of these consumables have unfortunately reached their expiration date. Currently, hundreds of patients are on waiting lists to access dialysis. In addition, there are numerous deaths linked to difficulties in accessing specialized care and the financial constraints faced by some families."
Abdou Aziz Diop notes that "despite the efforts made by hospital authorities, no hemodialysis treatment is yet available in the department." It is reported that the hospital director has converted the former pharmacy warehouse into a future hemodialysis unit, which unfortunately is still not operational due to a lack of additional equipment and technical facilities that meet the required standards for operating such a service.
