Hôpital Thierno Mansour Barro de Mbour : Fatou Ndong Diouck aux commandes, de lourds défis l’attendent
The Thierno Mansour Barro Public Health Establishment in Mbour has a new director. Fatou Ndong Diouck, a medical doctor with a degree in healthcare management, has been appointed director of the facility. Previously the chief physician at the Ngor Health Center, she replaces Dr. Thérèse Aïda Ndiaye in that position.
The new director arrives at the head of the Mbour hospital in a particularly delicate context. She inherits an institution facing several difficulties which, in recent years, have regularly provoked anger and concern among the population.
On several occasions, demonstrations and protests have been organized to denounce the shortcomings of the health infrastructure and to demand a significant improvement in its technical facilities and conditions of care.
In a department experiencing rapid population growth and also attracting a significant number of tourists, expectations are high. One of the main demands from the local population remains the upgrading of the facility to level 3, in order to strengthen healthcare services and reduce the need for transfers to Dakar and other, better-equipped facilities.
Fatou Ndong Diouck therefore has a lot of work ahead of her. Beyond the day-to-day management of the facility, her mission will be scrutinized in light of the responses provided to the numerous concerns of users and staff, but also the hospital's ability to reach a new level in the quality of healthcare in Mbour.
